DVB/IP Datacasting via Satellite

SuperFlex is IDC’s  award-winning broadband satellite networking system that provides an ideal infrastructure for distributing broadband content quickly, efficiently, and cost-effectively. SuperFlex features an open-architecture design based on industry standards (DVB, IP, MPEG, etc). It is highly modular and integrates easily into existing networks. IDC manufactures core products (such as IP encapsulators, modulators, and receivers, as well as software for network management and system enhancements) and integrates "best-of-breed" third-party elements to provide the best solution possible for customer requirements. SuperFlex can also incorporate various return paths for two-way connectivity and is the only DVB system on the market that operates at speeds as low as 256 ks/s up to a full transponder (45 Ms/s).

Core Head End Items

  • IP Encapsulator – the IPE is the core element around which the rest of the head end system is configured. Available in four different speeds (8, 110, 160 and 210 Mb/s) to match the application and budget, the IPE provides an easy way to connect the rest of the head end equipment.
  • DVB Modulator– the modulator is extremely bitrate agile – from kilobits per second to megabits per second – allowing network operators to easily reconfigure network data speeds as requirements change. DVB-S/S2 compliant.
  • NetManager– is IDC’s proven in band (over-the-satellite) Network Management System (NMS) solution for configuring, managing and controlling satellite receivers. It features a browser-based GUI for operator-friendly local and remote operation. NetManager can be driven by other management applications via theSOAP/Web Services (WSDL) interface

Add Features & Functionality

  • FlexKey Encryptor – provides highly secure 128-bit encryption of selected content of the DVB ASI stream. IDC also integrates third-party encryption and Conditional Access Systems.
  • QoS Traffic Manager – allows the user to preset bandwidth for guaranteed and/or opportunistic levels of service.
  • Redundancy Switch – provides for automatic or manually-initiated switchover of equipment chains in the event of a failure or other operational disruption.

Powered by Datacast XD

The Datacast XD Host, a core head end component, is IDC’s Content Management
& Distribution software system. It’s made up of core software components with optional add-on modules. The integrated modules combine to implement highly reliable Store and Forward file transfer systems as well as streaming applications.Datacast XD includes application-level Forward Error Correction (FEC) and encryption, automated scheduling,confirmed delivery reporting, remote site client management and database logging. It also comes with a built-in SOAP/ WebServices (WSDL) interface for ease of automation and integration with other monitoring and control systems (e.g.,via WSDL/.NET/XML commands).
