Satellite Delivered IPTV

To remain competitive in the converged voice, video, and data services marketplace, telecommunications companies (telcos) have embraced new Internet technologies to bring enhanced services into the homes of subscribers. Using the same high-speed Internet connections that carry voice and data services, telcos now deliver video via Internet protocol television (IPTV) and video on demand (VoD) so viewers can now choose whether to watch programming on their TVs, computers, or mobile phones and view Internet content and caller ids on their TVs. However, adding video onto a network presents many challenges, not the least of which is maintaining broadcast quality via an IP connection. By combining expertise in IP multicast via satellite with the latest digital video broadcast (DVB) and MPEG-4 standards for high-speed distribution of digital video, IDC solutions are tailored to meet these challenges.

The SFX ProIPTV is the next-generation IPTV product from IDC. Built on IDC’s experience with deployed in-the-field IPTV networks, the SFX ProIPTV is ideal for Telcos, MDUs and other points of presence where space is limited. The SFX ProIPTV saves power, time, and space. The unique “blade” design provides a 75% space usage reduction, with up to 28 transponders in a 6RU rack space, and provides a 50% power saving over previous generations of systems. The design of the ProIPTV is highly modular, allowing the user to determine the modules and configuration best suited to the needs of the network and the content to be delivered. Each module is plug and play, and hot swappable.

IDC’s Superflex and Datacast XD, combined with our head-end solutions of IP encapsulators, DVB modulator, network management system, content management and distribution software provide a complete end-to-end solution for an IPTV network. With options for enhanced functionality, guarantees secure, simultaneous, distribution of streaming content as well as file based VOD content to any number of remote client servers or terminals and the intuitive, open-standards software design allows for easy integration and operation within existing local and/or wide-area, cable and/or satellite IP networks.

IDC’s range of DVB-S/S2 receivers offer maximum interoperability and backwards compatibility for the secure delivery of both standard and high-definition content over satellite and terrestrial IP networks as well as bandwidth efficiencies that allow IDC customers to transmit MPEG-4 and IP data using as much as 50% less bandwidth.
