Industry Solution > Broadcast Services

IDC’s unique broadcast services offer a comprehensive solution to our clients.  Our services include full turn-key solutions, 24/7 monitoring and support provided by a team of experienced network operations centre, (NOC) operators and engineering staff as well as full video and audio editing and production capabilities.

Satellite reception and transmission in both Ku-band and C-band is available through unimpeded line-of-sight access for most  North American and European fixed satellites along with fibre connectivity support for our customer needs.  Teleport partners in Europe provide an extension to IDC’s services to areas such as Western and Eastern Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa.

As part of its broadcast services, IDC has been providing programming to Canadian Forces Personnel and Support Agency (CFPSA), a department of National Defence Canada (DND), to provide morale-based television and radio programming to deployed Canadian Forces serving overseas on land and at sea. The programmed service is called Canadian Forces Radio and Television (CFRT).

Canadian Forces Radio & Television (CFRT) is a Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency (CFPSA) frontline service that utilizes state of the art satellite equipment provided by International Datacasting who have been contracted to provide this service.  CFRT has an unparallel effect at enhancing the moral and creating a link from home to Canadian Forces personnel serving overseas at deployed operations.”

Mark Larose, CFRT Project Manager, Department of National Defence

IDC has worked in close collaboration with CFPSA since January 2000. From the main studio facility located in Ottawa,  programming is broadcast anywhere Canadian military are deployed. Regions of focus for CFRT are in Afghanistan, UAE, Egypt, Germany, and when required, CFRT also is provided on the Canadian Navy ships in the Persian Gulf. CFRT is delivered to these locations through satellite and this closed circuit network is fully encrypted to ensure programming is secure to prevent any re-broadcast.
As CFRT is a morale based service, it provides Canadian soldiers with programming that they would normally receive in Canada and establishes a much needed link to home. IDC operates CFRT programming on a 24/7 basis in French and English, Canada’s official languages.
