Peter Scovell, Director and Chairman of the Board, is the President of Newlyn Technologies Ltd. In this capacity he works closely with Warburg Pincus LLC as part of their New York based technology practice. Since 2001, Dr. Scovell has also been a Director of COM DEV International and has also served as former Chairman of STC France and SpaceBridge Semiconductor Corporation. Dr. Scovell has held various senior positions in Bell Northern Research, Nortel Networks and COM DEV during his 30 years of experience in the telecommunications sector.
Denzil Doyle, Director, is Chairman of Doyletech Corporation (a consulting company) and has been a long-time leader of the venture capital investment community in Ottawa. He has also been a Director of the National Research Council, Newbridge Networks, Mitel Networks, and Med-Eng Systems and has successfully founded a number of high-tech companies. From 1995 to 2005, he served as Chairman of Capital Alliance Ventures Inc., an Ottawa-based venture capital firm specializing in technology investments. He is also the author of Making Technology Happen. In 2005, Mr. Doyle was invested as a Member of the Order of Canada.

Denis Colbourne, Director, has been the President of DC Technologies Ltd. (a business management and technology consulting company) since 1998. Mr. Colbourne served on numerous corporate boards and is currently a member of the board of several high-tech companies including Opel, Inc (Connecticut). He is a member of the advisory boards of Spectalis Inc. (Ottawa), Avalon Micro Inc. (St. John’s) and the National Research Council’s Canadian Photonics Fabrication Centre). He was also a member of the Board of Governors of the Ottawa Hospital. Prior to retiring from Nortel in December 1998, Mr. Colbourne served as Vice President and General Manager of Nortel Semiconductors He was also Chairman of Shanghai Nortel Semiconductor (SNS), a Nortel joint venture based in Shanghai, PRC.
Mark Norton, Director, has been the President of Pakenham Holdings Limited, a private investment company since 1981. Mr. Norton is a director of Green Avenue Ventures Inc., an investment and management company, Med-Eng Systems Inc., a manufacturer of body protection and electronic counter measure systems, and CMA Holdings Inc. the principal holding company of the Canadian Medical Association.
Dr. Stuart L. Smith, Director, is the founder and President of RockCliffe Research and Technology Inc. (a company that manages the commercialization of technology) since 1987. Dr. Smith is also the Chairman of the Board of Ensyn Technologies, Inc. (a developer of industrial energy applications) and of Esna Technologies Inc. (a developer of unified communications software), and a director of Acura Masstech (a company developing software and providing systems integration for digital video technology).
Neil Bauer, Director, is President of Orion Associates, where he provides consulting services to investment firms and satellite operators. He was President & CEO of Loral CyberStar and a corporate officer of Loral Space & Communications. Mr. Bauer held a number of key financial planning and business leadership positions at GE Americom and its parent, GE/RCA. He served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Commercial Operations for GE Americom.
Kevin Rankin, Director, is President of Fidus Systems, where he is responsible for the day to day leadership of the company. He was CEO of Tropic Networks from its inception in 2000 to its acquisition by Alcatel-Lucent in 2007. Throughout his career, Mr. Rankin has held a variety of senior management positions at Newbridge Networks, LSI Logic and Northern Telcom. Mr. Rankin serves as a board member for The Bridge Wesleyan Church and the Ontario Centre of Excellence Centre for Photonics, and is also involved in the Mindtrust Leadership Development Program,which is an executive mentoring program for both Carleton and Ottawa University students.
