IDC provides several solutions for delivering live 3D alterative content to theatre screens.  Our standalone satellite solution can provide a high-definition live stereoscopic signal into a digital cinema projector.  IDC also offers solutions which are integrated with existing digital cinema playback systems to maximize the return on investment of existing digital infrastructure.

Satellite delivery for the highest quality 3D images

In order to deliver the most immersive and realistic 3D experience, the transmitted video signal must be of the highest quality.  IDC’s 3D live solution combines the benefits of DVB-S2 satellite transmission and high data rate MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 video decoding to provide the best live 3D experience to viewers.

Leverages existing 2D infrastructure

IDC’s solutions for 3D live broadcasts are unique in that an existing 2D live infrastructure can be used for 3D transmission while still providing full resolution stereoscopic images to the digital cinema projection system.  Thanks to the 3D encoding technology from industry leaders Sensio, the IDC solution provides an economical solution to live 3D video transmission which can be deployed using today’s live broadcast technology.

Compatible with all digital cinema projectors and 3D systems

The IDC solution for live 3D broadcast provides a full resolution set of stereoscopic (Left and Right) images to the 3D projection system.  The solution is compatible with all stereoscopic projection systems, and features system specific image processing (such as Dolby 3D Color Correction) for the highest quality 3D experience.

The IDC solution has been deployed in over 250 theatres worldwide, and has been used to deliver live 3D broadcasts of major sporting events such as basketball, football, and rugby.  Many cultural events such as outdoor festivals, opera, and concerts have been delivered theaters worldwide via satellite.
